I am always on the look out for unique photos of mothers in traditional cultures wearing their babies. It is such an ancient art. Maybe not even an art, but a way of life. Mothers have been wearing their babies in cloth carriers throughout human history. And we tend to think of it as a trend that is coming into style. We have made it trendy, for sure, but it is a very basic childrearing method. Why on earth did it go away for so long? What were we thinking? What could be more basic than carrying your little one close to your body. Safety, warmth, affection. All of his basic needs are taken care of there. I only hope this "trend" comes on full force.

Please note: This photo is on loan to me from the photographer and must not be reproduced in any way without permission. Thank you!
